When thinking about things that really interested me and that I wouldn't mind spending long hours on writing and research the first topic that came to me was the War on Iraq with it getting so close to september eleventh. The War on Iraq has to be the one thing that seems to come up in conversations with my friends, Family and in a social setting. So why not use it as a topic for a direct action project. Then i started to think what do i really know about the war on Iraq. I can safely say that the idea of a war came about after the attack on New York city. The United States went into Iraq with what i believe was the intent to find the terrorist who planned the attack in New York. But once the war started the intent change and became to free that Iraqi people from a life they did not know they needed to be freed from. Me personally i believe the United States went in for the wealth in Iraq's land. But that's just me. Most if not all of the information i have on the war came from the media and what i so happen to read on any given day. By thinking about this topic i hope to learn more about what's going on in the war grounds and the politics behind the war and what people really think. Not what the televisions or newspaper say people think. I can pick up more information about the War on Iraq by reading some novels about the subject, from the news media, newspapers and the internet. I've become so passionate about the war on Iraq because it affects everybody and people loved ones are dying everyday.
The big box bill was another topic that hit close to home with me when thinking about possible project subjects. This is because i worked for a big box company (wal-mart) until i started school. What i know about the big box bill is politicians say they are trying to pass this bill so that families will get a living wage. The bill is to try and stop big box companies from making billions and paying their employees pennies. What i would like to learn from doing research on the big box bill is why did the big box bill come about after Wal-Mart deciding to build a store with-in the chicago city limits. I also hope to learn the inner workings on the big box companies and why some won't start their employees with more than six dollars and fifty cent and hour when they can afford to. To find out this information i will have to spend a lot of research hours on the internet and in the library, also reading the newspaper. These would also be a type of secondary research source. I may also be able to get information by doing some interviews with management at a big box company. The interviews will also serve as a primary source for the research. The big box bill is important to me because if it is passed it will affect a lot of people i'm close to.
After picking the first two topic I was not sure of a third topic but then i over heard about the thought of the United State intervening in the Sudan and that would be a great topic. Although the U.S. intervention in Sudan is something i don't know that much about i do know that there is a civil war taking place there now. I also know there are reports of over a thousands people dying daily over there while the United States are debating if that is something they really want to interferer with. By doing more research i hope to learn why there's a civil war taking place, when did it start and what kind of county is the Sudan. I also would like to find out if the war could have been prevented if the United States had step in earlier. The internet would be the best source for information for this topic seeing as it is more recent. That would also be my source for secondary information. I'm not sure as of now where I would get a primary source information. But i'm sure as the story becomes more developed a primary source for research will be come more available. I'm passionate about the United Stated intervening in the Sudan because the people of Sudan need their help and they have to power to stop the killing that is taking place. |
